Film Analysis Assignment

 

Evaluate a film you watched, based on the list of topics below. Write at least one paragraph for each point in the analysis in each section. Double space, 12 point, Courier font.

 

Section 1:

Consider your initial reaction, write your first paragraph about what you first thought when you watched it.

 

Section 2:

Describe the film using appropriate terminology from the lessons on production. Write about the story, actors, camera work, setting, costume, sound, lighting and direction. A paragraph for each.

 

Section 3:

Analyse and interpret the film. What message was the director trying to convey to the audience. Dig deep, what is below the surface meaning of this film. What is the director really trying to tell us?

 

Section 4:

Evaluate the effectiveness of the work. Is this film any good? Would you recommend it to your friends? Who should go to see this film? Does it stand up to other films you have seen in this genre or by this director?

 

REMEMBER TO WRITE YOUR ANALYSIS FOR A FILM AUDIENCE, NOT FRIENDS, FAMILY etc. Use the terminology and definitions that you have been tested on.
